BRENHAM, Texas, March 25, 2019 – Blue Bell Ice Cream will be available in grocery stores in Richmond, Hampton Roads, Va., and the surrounding cities beginning Monday, March 25. (Cities listed below.)
“We are glad to be back and excited to be in a position to expand our sales territory,” said Jimmy Lawhorn, vice president, sales and marketing for Blue Bell. “Our delivery trucks arrived a few weeks ago. As soon as fans saw the Blue Bell logo they began contacting us wanting to know when they can expect to find our ice cream in stores. We are extremely thankful for the warm response from so many of them.”
Blue Bell recently completed construction on a 14,000 sq. ft. distribution facility in Ashland and a second location will open in Suffolk in April. “Our brand new facilities will house all of the products for the area,” Lawhorn said. “We have around 20 employees on staff at this time at each location. Initially, we will bring in additional employees from other states to help with the opening. It could take up to two weeks to deliver our products to every store that is selling Blue Bell.”
Ice cream fans can look for Blue Bell at Kroger, Publix, Walmart, Walgreens, military commissaries and many independent grocery stores. If you cannot find Blue Bell in the ice cream section, be sure to check with the store personnel.
Blue Bell offers a complete line-up of products including more than 40 flavors of ice cream, Light and No Sugar Added selections, sherbet and frozen snacks. The company’s most popular flavor, since it was released in 1969, is Homemade Vanilla. This year Blue Bell will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Homemade Vanilla. The ice cream is described as a rich, homemade-tasting vanilla ice cream with a special hand-cranked flavor that some say is the best in the country.
