Blue Bell to launch Crankin’ Back the Clock Flavor Contest Aug. 1

BRENHAM – Blue Bell Ice Cream is crankin’ back the clock to reintroduce a popular flavor from the past. The Crankin’ Back the Clock Flavor Contest will launch Aug. 1, on the company’s website, www.bluebell.com, giving fans the opportunity to choose a flavor they would like to bring back to the ice cream line-up in 2013.

The contest will begin with 24 flavors, previously chosen by a Blue Bell panel. “We have a memorable selection of old favorites, some dating back as far as 1975,” said Carl Breed, director of marketing. “The hard part was deciding which of our past flavors would make the list. We looked at consumer requests, ingredient availability, taste profile and creativity.”

To vote you must be a member of the Blue Bell Country Club. If you are not a member, you may register at www.bluebell.com.

Participants are allowed one vote per day, per registered e-mail address starting on Aug. 1, then on Aug. 8, the six flavors receiving the least amount of votes will be removed. A week later six more flavors will be eliminated. From Aug. 22-31, voters will choose between the final six flavors, those which have received the most votes so far.

Voting ends Aug. 31. The winning flavor will be announced in an e-mail to all Country Club members in September and introduced in a half gallon carton in 2013.
